The rock of Tunjaque is located in the influence zone of the Chingaza natural park and belongs to the La Calera municipality. It is a natural route to the Choachi municipality from La Calera characterized by steep topography and abundant water sources.
The region is surrounded by magnificent rocky walls in the territory of cloud forest and páramo. This is an ascending trail between 2650 and 3200 m.
The trail is 7 km long of which about 4 km wind through the cloud forest and local farms in order to reach the summit which already is a part of páramo ecosystem. From the top it is possible to make out the whole region of Choachi, New World and the Chingaza national park. The trail is full of beautiful orchids, mosses and quiches often found in cloud forests.
The cost of the hike includes transportation and guidance. Each person must bring lunch and beverages. Always be prepared for rain, cold or heat. We recommend to bring some clothe to change after the hike.
