Chicaque Forest is a private nature reserve located southwest of Bogotá. It is the gateway to the Tequendama region and it is an important refugee of fauna and flora of the high Andean forest. The mist which rises from the low land most of the time sits over the forest. In the reserve various trails have been built for different types of visitors. Situated in the western extreme of the savanna of Bogotá it stands out for the imposing rocky walls, waterfalls and the magnificent view over the valley of Magdalena River.
Hiking trails are about 5 to 7 miles long which can be realized in approximately 4 to 5 hours. The terrain is undulating and all the trails end with a 40 minute ascent to the principal park entrance. The difficulty level of the hike is medium.
The cost of the hike includes transportation and guidance.
The park entrance fee ($ 11.000 colombian pesos) is NOT INCLUDED and should be paid directly in the park. Each hiker must bring lunch. It is recommended to be prepared for any weather changes.
